Ploughing the fields of legislation,
Paying the price that is due,
Saying out loud the unpalatable,
While being shouted down with sharp words,
Needing thick skin to succeed, a bravado hidden from most,
Forging ahead for the safety of numbers,
Navigating a path through the mire,
Backed up by spin, fact and vague truth,
Keep a close eye on friends and enemies alike,
Lest they cause harm on your person,
Or shy away and fade to secure obscurity,
Seek counsel deciding your course, allowing spouse and family to conspire,
With steely determination push on,
Intelligence will sift out the risks,
Of memoirs forgotten before they are written,
Rely on the nature of foes to deliver fate or infamy.
