Before his eyes reflected undiscovered planets,
they reflected every possible color a flower could be.
His skin gently brushed against leaves
but he never plucked them from their limbs.
He revealed to me his wisdom,
that we spend so much time with our feet on sidewalks
that we conditioned our minds to think everything is concrete.
We forget about the abstract secrets of ocean waves,
but he didn’t let my mind change.
He stopped me from trying to look through glass eyes and convinced me to keep the eyes I sculpted as a child.
He gave me a paintbrush and a white wall and told me to paint until every color of the sky was on my hands.
“I hope you take the time to step back and appreciate what you created,
but also appreciate what inspired you to create it.”

Those last lines are wonderful. Tfs.
Thank you for reading!
I agree, those final two lines were dope!
Thank you!
Where do you come up with stuff like this? This poem is amazing, especially the last two stanzas. Way to go!
This poem is based on a friend I had a few years ago. He always talked about the beauty of nature, and always made sure people took the time to appreciate it
