How We Divide

We can stay in the middle so as not to offend,
Those with stronger or narrowing views,
Being safe on the fence until the bitter end,
Looking backward, with nothing to lose,

It’s our right and a privilege, to think differently,
With no fear of being shut down,
No retreat, share a view, learn to hate secretly,
No small step, feel the shock all around,

From a healthy position, to polarised view,
Hear the truth in what others have to say,
Shaped by time of a history of the old and now new,
Just an accident, point of view here to stay,

So, come in from the cold, a caricature of self,
Listen not to their mad filth and bile,
Listen good, understand, wear your empathy with stealth,
While the evil, they further divide.

I’ve seen it. No matter what view you have, someone will always disagree. Politics I guess. 🙂 Being steadfast with confidence is a good trait to have. Good poem.
