Music and Memories

In the golden glow of the early morning light,
you picked up my heart and softly strummed a beautiful chord.
I think it was an E minor, because it wept sorrowful undertones,
and from that moment forth,I knew that I would love you
forever more.

As we sat on the balcony in the pale moon light,
you delicately placed your fingers upon the black and white keys of my soul,
and played a lovely classical arietta.
I believe it was Chopin,
because its sophistication and grace made my heart race,
and my mind pace
in ways unimagined
that literature or paintings could never do,
and I knew that
I was destined to eternally love you.

Drums violently pound, beat deep
heavy in my chest
when I remember your cries,
and as I sit here by the flicker of the candle light,
I feel your presence
join the violently pounding,
beating rhythms of my heart,
and I feel comfort and peace,
because I know
that I forever carry
your music inside of me.
