Earth to Sky

Gazing at the glow
of heavenly lights,
soon to be lost,
in the waning of the twilight,
drifting in dreams
of a morning love,
that breaks through the night,
to warm my life,
like golden rays
of the rising sun
ascending,
or descending
from somewhere
down below,
or from someplace
up above.

I bury my heart
outside
in fallowed ground,
and lift my face
to the rain,
I see your beauty
in everything,
even pooled
in the empty spaces
between
pleasure and pain.

Your love and beauty
permeate all things,
to the edges of the earth
where the waters run dry,
its almost like
your beauty is everywhere,
like your love
fills the sky.

And if I
could fill
the seas
with the finest
of black ink,
and turn
the clouds
into bright white parchment,
and every oak tree
into giant quills,
and even if
all manner of men
were novelists by birth,
and not by trade,
to capture
the depths
of your love,
would drain
the waters dry,
and the books
could not even
begin to describe
the heights
of your beauty
even
if they were stacked
on high
from earth to sky.
