I offer a voice, O Delhi
For days I passed for thy tender wings
Countless evenings near Red Fort
Remembering the mighty Mughals
While uttering a solemn prayer
But, yet yearn to remain there
As a perpetual wanderer with flare
The days I spent would never end
And mist of time will not fade my saga
Faces, Masses and lasses I saw
Will be with me till I see the shore of Lanka
From the flamboyant corners of Chandani Chowk
To the bowers of amorous love in Nehru Park
I roamed, I ran and I learnt
And it is time for me to depart.
The crisp wind of summer which blew near my ear
And the hymns of pigeons I adored to hear
Everlasting colour of thy grandeur
Aroused me to be a merry good bard.
