Sin Eater

For he indeed a comatose shell became

Now heed this story I relay.

As I regale you with this tale of woe

You will an unsung secret know.

Mankind was once at one with darkness

A wicked, monstrous power harnessed

And into its skin the fleshlings slipped,

Their minds slowly into fragments ripped.

The weaker morsels swallowed down

Their bodies consumed, and souls to drown.

These vile creatures from hate did spawn

The infection to grief and spite respond.

The gods of old would soon decree

A safeguard be placed to end this siege.

And of one pure child the burden bared

The folly of all mankind be shared.

And when the boy grew to a man

Pain incarnate in his hands,

Years of bitter disdain and lies

Would bring the rage to fill his eyes.

The gods would then decide his fate

Their fear of this evil overtake

Shall bind him forever in his mind

Warmth and joy, he’ll never find.

He eternally on his shackles feeds

The cruelest of all ironies

A warning from this story true

Darkness gives power absolute.

For should he awaken, the dark shall rise

To take revenge on a world despised

From the wretched masses, his army formed

And again bring forth the abysmal storm.

  1. it’s got a death/doom metal ring to it 😉 my favorite part was “He eternally on his shackles feeds; The cruelest of all ironies” because it describes mankind so truthfully… wish I had thought of that.. great piece, once again

  2. Man, this is so deep!
    You totally nailed it.

    (No pun intended)

Excellent piece. Why don’t I ever thunk of things like this? Brilliant!
