Bite Your Tongue!

You curse my name from inside your cage
With restrictive bars by your allies made.
So eager you are to share your chains
Though in time these locks will become your bane.

To provide me a cell or sever my tongue,
Enslave the old and condition the young.
For thoughtful minds to be veiled by silence
Cantankerous words give way to violence.

Sway me.

With a challenging thought I cannot argue
Rather than terms that question my virtue.
Change my mind with clever wit
Never turn your head and spit.

For if this prison’s burden be too great
The coldness in others’ hearts  you slate
May freeze their shoulders, when help you seek
Or put them on ice when havoc wreaks.
