I have to learn to stretch my heart
as if you stretch your legs
They might be rather far apart
but both of them can beg
The legs they want to journey on
and not become a stump
The road that they may travel on
is never smooth of bump
The heart can be a compass too
to point which way to go
But clarity yields to the view
when deprivations rivers flow
Wizened is the marrow
will the hardens please depart
As I walk this path of narrow
I must learn to stretch my heart
