Puddles of exhausted days cleanse the Earth,
absent the promise of advent pain or joy;
greatness, humming its tune in a muted voice of desired power,
masquerades as a lone lily eagerly awaiting growth.

Once a maiden, borne of love and wanderlust, though
pierced by an agonizing reality synthesized from doubt,
now royalty, paving her path to ascension on slanted land
keen on ensnaring her under its shared deprivation,

yet she beckons! Her demons unfathomably whisk away;
nightmares suffocate within her potent cocoon,
and her bright soul illuminates the dawn that breaks.
Alexander shamelessly bathes in its everlasting warmth,

for dawn is absolute, thereby equal to her word. Consume it.

  1. 5 minutes & I’m still reading the first line.. but I can’t say I read it, more like felt it.. this entire piece is a magnificent painting… & “Consume it.” gives it life.. I think you described something I’ve been fascinated with all my life, but never found the words, deciding instead just to enjoy looking outside.. I think dawn perfectly highlights what some would call the wonder of nature.. well, this would be one of those moments ’cause the poem is so vivid.. great stuff! 🙂

    • So glad you saw it that way, my friend. Inspiration can certainly come from anywhere, but the idea of new life breathing into our world every day, the hope of something stronger, and a girl lol, inspired me to write this. Thank you for your continued support!

      • 😁😁 there often is, my friend haha

  2. This poem, it’s making me see a sunrise and it is beautiful, I love the imagery of a “cocoon” as well, as this can have so many connotaions, I always adore your work 🙂

    • That’s what I admire the most about art – it can certainly make itself open to interesting interpretations. Every word is deliberate, and Alexander should give it away, but I’d much rather let others like you interpret it in their own way. I love poetry, and I love you all 🙂 thank you for reading, milady.

  3. Wowwwwwwww, slow down. What’s that??? I read it at loud and my tongue asked for an encore, the work on “consonances” is fabulous here. Man I don’t know the time spent on this one but I’m absolutely amazed. Bravo Cy

    • So glad it resonated the way it did with you, cher ami. Merci beaucoup! I absolutely appreciate your continued support!

      • You know I mean every word.

  4. Beautiful picture to a beautiful poem. It’s very relaxing in a way and can take the stress away from the reader who bathes in this magnificent piece. Truly one of your best hands down!

    • My friend I sincerely appreciate it. Thanks so much for checking this out, and for thinking it’s among my best 🙂 that’s so humbling.

    I read this twice and probably will go back to read it again because wwwoww it’s so beautiful. Soft and delicate like the sunrise yet so elegantly fierce like the sun itself, that is your poem. I will never get over the magic of your wonderful mind. 🙂

    • That’s so humbling to hear, my friend. You’re one of my biggest inspirations, so I was glad to have been able to tap in to an aspect of that to craft this. Thank you so much 🙂
