The Beetle

The sweetest song comes when the stars abound

And the insects of the kingdom anticipate the sound.

A violinist beetle plays through the night

When his firefly cousins deliver their light.

He sits on a dew soaked stem alone.

Beneath the moonlight it becomes his throne.

He plays a tune that would make songbirds cry

And creates new life under the darkened sky.

His music bids the other beetles to sing along

And the moths and spiders work in sync with his song.

Upon his stem, his heart writes symphonies sublime

Some dark as the sky above, others like the stars that shine.

  1. Excellent stuff here, man 🙂 Good to see a familiar face on a familiar platform sharing his art. Simple and effective, with creative hues of colour through words! Solid!!

  2. Never thought about writing with bugs. Other than bee’s, but they don’t count. lol

    Enjoyed this.

    • The first and probably only time I’ll use bugs in a literal sense lol! Thanks Jerome!

  5. This piece flows so well and you’ve done an outstanding job doing a poem on insects. Love the “songbird” part. Very impressed by this overall!

    • Thank you Jarid! It started out as a funny thought of a beetle playing violin then became this!

    • Thank you! I was aiming to make the imagery reminiscent of something Erik Carl might write.
