Someone once mentioned to me
our burden and gift of desire
how it drives us to primal greed
and a need for something more
and I asked
why do we do this?
and they said
you tell me
Someone once mentioned to me
our insatiable thirst for knowledge
a curiosity far beyond mere survival
that consumes our every last thought
and I asked
why do we have this?
and they said
nobody knows
Someone once mentioned to me
our separation from nature
and the impossible longing within us
to get closer to what we never had
and I asked
why do we feel this?
and they said
if only I knew
Someone once mentioned to me
our crippling fear of the unknown
and how meaningless our lives are
in the wake of inevitable death
and I asked
why do fear this?
and they said
it doesn’t matter.
Enjoyed reading this.

ah the mystery that is the mind…excellent structure and tempo
If I were to hand you a familiar volume, the motion might be termed audacious. But the answer lies both distant and closer than your hand to your face. The very challenge should drive the soul to Whom we live and move and have our being in, and does, sometimes, methinks. If, however, the search is within our navel, then it is an abyss whose only answer is to swallow us whole sans apology.
