You did take me by surprise
On the laziest afternoon,
Convincing me with those eyes
The we’d be up to some good.
Believing in what you sold
I trusted you against all odds
Yet when fate collects the debt
She does that by shedding blood.
Scalded cat fears cold water,
Once bitten you’re twice as shy.
But if a cat, I ain’t afraid
To give love another try.
Diving in the waterfall
“I’m fucked”written on my face,
A heart deaf to wise sayings,
Distracted by your embrace.
Nothing worked as intended
now even my dreams are soaked,
Every ounce of me is drenched
When my dry tears are revoked.
Trying to make sense of this
I slept on every issue
But them nights remain silent
You came not to my rescue.
And I won’t be fooled again
Because now I know better,
Insensitive to the pain
Immune by my scarlet letters.

you mentioned greatness.. oh wait, here it is.. a bit stupid from me, I didn’t expect scarlet letters, though you said it in the title xD but they sound awesome, combined this way, really..
I especially loved this part:
“Yet when fate collects the debt
She does that by shedding blood.”
sounds ominous, & magnificent 🙂
You’re far too kind my friend, thank you.
Scarlett letters, shed in Scarlett ink.
Perfect combination!
Another inspiring piece of writing.
Keep ’em coming, m’dude!
Oh! Thank you Jérome, very nice comment.
