Nobody can guess what magic lies beneath
Lies beneath the person I let them see
The underdog, the person that is really me
I’m not held down by society
I don’t blend in with the scene
There’s another world, another dimension of thought
You’ll never get bored if you stick around for the long haul
And don’t dump me because I don’t fall
Into the category of impressive beauty dolls
This microwave society wants everything instantly
You want to know me personally
But get tired of talking to me after just a week
Nobody wants to build trust mutually
They just want entertainment mentally
I don’t have a lot to offer to most
I’m not the coolest, the richest, the prettiest, the thickest
But I’m the realest
I’m the truest, the deepest, the fairest, the boldest
Small circle, but I know how to hold ‘em
I don’t let nobody fold them
Or get ahold of them
Mold them
I keep them fiercely like a mom with a cub den
I wouldn’t change things
Although, I find sometimes I am lonely
The same wings that give me freedom
Can bring me sorrow and sting
I am lonely but free, sometimes finding
A fellow loner to speak to, I’m confiding
What a beautiful thing
When my fellow loner and I
Take to the sky
Don’t have to talk, we just fly
Soaring through the clouds, him and I
Catching each other’s air, we glide
Swirling through the clouds, we ride
The night as she sighs
…I close my eyes…
We don’t have to talk, we just fly
Who needs a bunch of superficial friends, when you can fly with
your fellow loner. I’d rather be alone doing what I enjoy, rather than somewhere
with a bunch of fake people, talking about meaningless stuff.
Thank you for sharing. 🙂
Nice poem and says much. Lot to think upon, consider myself a loner, always have been. The same wings that bring freedom can bring sorrow,so true. Love that line about how a microwave society wants everything instantly. Good write.
I agree with Rob, I really like the microwave line, amongst others.
