Dragging a old cart on an empty road,
He told himself he’d have to be better.
He prayed that night for a miracle on this road, he really did.
A prayer that would fix the unfortunate person he had become
He had hoped that a holy light would hit his face and force him to change
But no, he was left on that barren road, the same as ever
A town he can’t escape, and a world he can’t change
Like a caged animal, he’s hopelessly trapped
He wonders if he’ll ever be free
He wants the time to live the life he wants,
To be free of such awful things and thoughts
A prisoner of his own nature,
He’d been cheated out of happiness for so long
So again, he prayed that night for a miracle on this road, he really did.
A prayer that would fix the unfortunate person he had become.
A beautiful sky beamed down on him.
Tired and weary, he still dragged his old cart along.
“This must be some sort of punishment,
What have I done wrong?”
What a fool he was, thinking he could change the world
What a fool he was, thinking he could change people
A town he couldn’t escape and a world he couldn’t change
Like a caged animal, he was hopelessly trapped
He wondered if he’d ever be free
Before he knew it, the sun had set
Nothing but self-pity existed in his heart now.
In a mad shout he said,
“I wish I had never set out this joirney in the first place!”
In desperation, he prayed that night for a miracle on this road, he really did.
A prayer that would fix the unfortunate person he had become.
Tired tears flowed from his eyes.
He had hoped that a divine holy light would finally hit his face
and force him to change.
But no, he was left on that barren road, the same as ever.
And so, he continued to drag the old cart along
And by the end, he had nobody but himself to pray to
Still dragging that old cart, he could nothing but sigh
All alone on that barren road.
