Brittle Coatings

Strange places, are we

knotted in these badly lit corners

together and not

alone and together.

I approach these

with brittle coatings

that if you touch, break…

never has it ever not been.

You cast your eyes toward me

and my coating breaks

turns to dust

and falls away.

And so exposed, I walk toward you.

  1. “You cast your eyes toward me
and my coating breaks turns to dust
and falls away. And so exposed, I walk toward you”
We wear a breastplate to cover our vulnerable heart,
but the light of true love makes it fall to dust.
Such a lovely poem with nice metaphor use.
