My Eyes Gifted My Heart

The sands of a greater mind warped across the decades and settled onto my head.
There it was on the wall so staggeringly beautiful I had to smile
heart, soul, diaphragm, blood and bile
carefully shredded and poured onto this canvas
and I cannot think I cannot stop thinking.
Shriek at me shriek at me you beautiful master
you slather my mind on this rough surface
you expel your ghosts and crying villains
with gushed out paint with unruly discipline
an infinite rectangle a dimensional assault
crying with the times lost to the vacant eyes. Lost.
Did you know me, did you know I would meet you here some day
to make my gut sing praises to grin privately
at the solid precious inner buried thought less thoughts?
My god my god my god I whispered
I can see you poring over this thing
just giving it all you had, just waiting for me to find it
one day.

You speak to me across the decades and forever change my mind
you are dead you live you live.

I am a pedestrian now, I have to go home and do ordinary things.

  1. Was thinking about some of the later 20th cen. paintings I’ve seen in musuems as I read this. Liked the end line about being pedestrian and doing ordinary things.
