Stare Down the Portal

A swamp bordered with cattails
sits inside this petty mind
oh my god a tadpole wiggles unmindful
silt and brown water muddy shoes

The sun is a stern rebuke
concrete just poured dries sadly
a wolf spider drags her egg sack stoically
sunburn and wool scratches the skin

A downpour of gorgeous rain
run in shocking joy freely
lightning strikes a primitive chord
wet and with heavy breathing

Stare.
