I watch the people walk along
Alone
Alone
Kindred, more with the dark that follows
Hiding
Gone
From a vibrant world that feels so wrong
Private
Lonesome
Long to consume, which I can’t swallow.
To the shadow, back I slither
Reaching for that which burns my skin
Here inside the dark I wither
With my own folly once again.
Where oblivion calls me back to rest
In somber sleep my dreams protest.
In shackles of my own design,
I lose the key and stay confined.
Somewhere far beyond this cage
The darkness holding me shall fade
Distant dreams
Finally free
Someday soon?
No longer blue.

Thank you!
I really like the structure of the first two stanzas
They really helped set the depth of this piece
Excellent write, friend
Hope to read more from you soon!
Thank you! I do hope to start writing again soon, I’m just in a weird place mentally.
