It Has Been a Day

I am sorry that I missed yr call today

I might have been getting the mail

No, I didn’t hear the message on the machine

Until mid-afternoon

I apologize for the call; I know you’re busy

I woke up this morning

With the heaviness of sorrow

Hovering over my head

So much so, that I couldn’t stop weeping

Over a joyous occasion like love on TV

Boy, did I feel empty…

But I am over it now…

Though my mind wanders, so the experts say

There’s no cure for the virus

Yet, there was cancer in the age of dinosaurs

All this misery

No wonder I don’t watch the news anymore

Because it reminds me of the lonely world

I endure
