See a kid getting shot and killed by some man
He doesn’t even know
See a woman hoping her husband won’t come home drunk
Hoping she would go to sleep without getting beat by a stick
Without having to have scream and plead
Without having to have her skin turn blue and black
Covered with red spots and scars
With blood streaming down her face and legs
A little baby, barely a day old
In a crib in a nursery, crying and screaming
Coughing and vomiting, hoping he’ll live to see tomorrow
Going through unbearable pain
Wishing the pain would stop, wishing that its mother never smoked when she was pregnant
See a man sleeping on the streets
Making a trash bag his blanket
Getting splattered by the cold rain with no roof or even an umbrella over his head to keep him dry
Having to beg people for money everyday
Just to get some food in his stomach, if he doesn’t get any money that day
He’ll just have to go hunting in the dirty old trashcans and be happy to just an apple core or maybe a peanut
See a kid in court, in middle of a giant custody battle
Confused and scared
Confused why their parents don’t want to live with each other anymore
Scared that it won’t be their mom, dad and the child
But it’s going to be them and their mom or them and their dad
Look to your right
