Relaxing, floating, drifting, drifting…in the gentle summer’s breeze
cold water carries away thoughts and worries
time feels at a stand still
as the mind slowly unwinds and becomes silent.
The water caresses, soothes the entire body
every muscle in her face is relaxed
with a peaceful dormant expression floating gently in the pool.
Death arrived cold, unannounced and observed solemnly
took in the peaceful mood of the scene
and sensing no thoughts or worries
found it hard to take his eyes away from her
then death left sad and puzzled.
He assumed she’d probably had beaten him to it
by taking the journey back home
alone and unescorted.
