In the Gift Shop

In the gift shop, a woman recited two small poems

To the clerk who stroke up a conversation with her

I overheard it with a captivation never had before

She came to the city to celebrate her birthday

Doing a bit of shopping with her friend

The clerk repiled “Happy Birthday”

Then, ending with “that was amazing”

She smiled and took her purchases

And replied “Thanks”

I thought the poems were wonderful

And before she left, I told her so

“Thanks,” she said

“Wait” I said as I grabbed her arm

“Here, my card, if you had anymore poem I would like to see”

She took my card and her eyes popped out of her head

As she looked at me, she asked

“Are you for real?”
