- A small flower on the side of the road
blooms unpretentious
through the hot arid asphalt
defenseless from oncoming traffic.
A poster child for courage and survival.
A mysterious force
watches and sustains her
in such perilous spot.
Perhaps the same force
that watches over every wild flower
and over every blade of grass.
Flourishing in frail frock
she’s the example as to how
a small thing can pierce
through hard barriers
like a continual drop of water
in time punctures a rock.
We too can overcome obstacles
with effort and perseverance.
This poem reminds of Tupac’s A rose grew out of the concrete Bravo!
I had not heart that song, thanks for mentioning it.
