Anderson DCCCLXVII

On a sunny, crisp autumn day

I was walking with thoughts of you

I stopped to watch the birds above

And started to weep

For I knew they would be leaving

As they fly south

I thought of phoning you

To tell you not to go

But I realised you needed to do this

Proving to yourself it isn’t hard

However,  I would miss you

Like the song of the birds

For the silence would break my heart

Knowing the absence is defening
