(sequel to cursed in the garden)
Fires consume the ancient scrolls
destroying every record
that stained her name
releasing her from her ancient karmic curse
clearing all debts this lifetime
and turning it all to ashes
as cinders leap high and uncontrolled
flying wildly like drunken fireflies
rushing to notify the heavens.
Far off a lone wolf howls
confirming this symbolic act
this hallowed ceremonial circle
as her ancient ancestors pray and rejoice with her.
After centuries she’s finally paid her debt
and has reached her final skin shedding,
it’s been a painful trajectory,
she overcame attacks and binding forces
she’s finally living her last lifetime on this plane.
She wears her new protective skin
that of a slick cosmic cobra.
She’s no longer enslaved
and making others profit from her misery,
from her work and sweat.
She’s an innocent creature
that has danced to exploitative snake charmers.
And at last from her enslavement’s been released!
With neurotoxic venom she defends herself
as she forms a hood, firm, ready to protect her stance.
Her senses have sharpened,
she hisses, smelling a rat a mile away.
She stands erect, in self respect
stunning, wiser, astute and free!
She’s the guardian of her own sacred temple
accepting her role, a key holder of secrets in the universe
and at last unbound, dancing to the beat of her heart.
