The lantern floated away with the current
landing on the riverbank
making her outlook on life improve
and feeling lighter her spirit rose with hope
and feeling lighter her spirit rose with hope
hoping that someone would find the lamp.
.
Some will judge the lantern as inconsequential
and leave it at the riverbank,
others will sell it as junk.
But at last someone will know
to rub the lantern to have the genie appear
and grant them three wishes
in exchange for the genie’s freedom.
But be warned for genies are not naive
they can see right through people
they can see right through people
tricking those they do not like.
But if the genie takes a liking to you
and you’re not happy with your three wishes
a fourth wish may be granted
undoing all of the previous wishes.

(Genies are part of Middle East myth )
Genie’s three rules when granting wishes:
1. Can’t kill anyone.
2. Can’t make people fall in love.
3. Can’t bring anyone back from the dead.

The Monkey’s Paw by W.W. Jacobs published in 1902
is a classic horror story about desire and greed
is a good example to not wish for rule No. 3.
