Kyrie and the Dark Encounter

Entry II

Scarlet oil traces downward on my left arm;
a fuel of vengeance sets my synapses ablaze.
I pray to return the favor a thousand fold
by portraying myself as an actor unfazed;

The creature reveals its grin,

illuminated by the bright toxicity of its jaundice,
as its imposing, dark and peridot physique
produces little doubt to who is the strongest.

Still, I steady my weapon – a stained and rusted rapier

with a chromatic quillon that reflects its grin.
Slender as ever, my hands grip the handle
as my forbearance to slay the beast has worn thin.

The malevolent structure becomes aberrant,

sprinting towards me in menacing fashion.
Superior to its increasing velocity, I stay my ground
and  riposte to negate its accelerated action.

Sharply, it turns adjacent as we intercommune,

then raises its left arm and hammers down.
Cries of agitation jolt my psyche to respond reflexively
as my blade collides, producing an earsplitting sound.

My knees refuse to buckle under pressure,

yet my dismayed senses are submerged in obscurity
I pray to the Gods that my force turns not inadequate
against the creature’s self-assured security.

My soul exemplifies the virtue of Fortitude,

tasked with burning itself alive;
the inner phoenix yearns for the righteous fervour
and my resilience transmutes into overdrive

My force agitates the beast off its axis;

its monumental structure unwittingly jerks back,
yet its smile grows wider, as I relentlessly gash.
Its spirit remains immune to my wrath’s attack.

My armor, commissioned by Charles VII himself

demonstrates wear, tear and fade;
bloodstained, my Artemis leather cuirass
and bracers are soaked in the darkest of shades.

“!out meicaf cen sarbenet retearp uT”

Aghast, my body halts at the startling dissonance

as the beast’s articulation echoes its speech.
Fear shackles the sentiency of my reality
as the arena distorts while it once again speaks:

“TU PRAETER TENEBRAS NEC FACIEM TUO!”

My conscience returns as my heart knocks

and I wake in the presence of a dark blue sky.
Slowly, I raise myself and resolve in haste
and breathe in the truth that naught is awry.

Lanterns of the sky crystallize my devil’s shadow

as they flow and suffocate the dim to win the fight
My soul uses its force as it paddles on the vast
and tenebrous substance of this darkest night.
