Outside
You can hear the neighbor’s children
They’re crying.
Inside
Is that your own heart pounding
Is it you that’s dying?
Now have you made all the beds?
Have you swept the floors today?
There’s so much here that’s left to do
Before you can go your own way.
All the windows, they’ve been broken
And the yard, YECCH it’s such a mess.
Just listen to the way you talk
Man look at the way you dress.
I know, I know you always saying
That you’ll make emends to destiny
Well that will all begin with you
So please don’t you start with me.
The world it keeps turning
The world it keeps burning
The blows leave you black and blue
There’s not much you can do
The world it keeps turning
The world it keeps yearning
Bow to the Grace that sees you through
If you want a better me
First make a better you
Outside
Still can hear the neighbor’s children crying
Inside
You’ll see you’re still sick, you’re still dying
So I take these words to heart
I’ll take these words to my head
So you wanna save the world?
First save yourself instead.

That last stanza was point on! The whole poem was amazing and you hit it home with a strong statement. Great job!
Thanks Jarid, appreciate it. Yes, get your own house in order before you try to fix anything else & I wanted it to show that I’m addressing it to myself more than anything else. Thanks again.
