The Great Outside

Step outside you angry child

Dispel your dreams of forsaken scenes

Dive into the fires of morrow

& an endless sea of trees

The meaning you sought in your cover

A great lie pulled over your eyes

& your heart never ached

Yet eternally it dies

Step outside you madman

A voice called from afar

Wash your feet in sand & glass

& run – to where the wild things are

Once, you’d say, it was different

A thousand steps without fear

Out there, where people wave & cheer

Where others walked, then disappeared

Once you’ve spoken to the wind

But now

they cannot hear

once, the moonlight tricked you

& your dormant soul now bleeds

Strayed in the distance, stricken with pleasure

Carried by morning breeze

Comfortably broken

Sore & crestfallen

Stuck between hell & ease

Lost on the ground that you’ve burned

‘neath a sky that you’ve dyed

But if you cannot rest, then why would you hide?

So let’s get outside, you restless child

& change the rules of the ride

Come on you raver

You downhearted loner

The saint & the sinner, while you have the chance to decide

OUT OF MY WAY DOWNHEARTED LOSER COMING THROUGH!

Is it me or is your poetry getting better and better? It can’t be the poetry because I was sure you hit the ball out of the court with your last post. BUT it must be. You are always setting the bar too high. I… Can’t…Reach…. it… lols :&

    • sometimes i fear it’s getting worse.. & sometimes I listen to you xD I do like this one though.. just imagine you’re me, reading your poetry, & you’ll see all sorts of wonders sprinkling everywhere 😀 thank you so much!!

  2. Really enjoyed the flow of this one! The intention and confidence of the narration showed vibrantly through the rhythm and language! Great job Nebojsa!

  3. I remember so well at the old site when I took a break and came back. You was one of the first I decided to read and I’m glad I did. It’s been a pleasure reading your work as you are one of the greatest writers in my opinion. This piece was well written and leaves me in awe as always!

    • I remember that quite clearly.. thanks for the kind words as always.. means a lot 🙂

  4. HOLY HELL..

    DAAAAAMMNNN..

UGH! Did you murder that flow!

I could pinpoint several stanzas as my favorite.
    But I have to go here;

“Once, you’d say, it was different
    A thousand steps without fear
Out there, where people wave & cheer
    Where others walked, then disappeared
Once you’ve spoken to the wind
    But now
    they cannot hear”

HOW!? – I need to know..

This is my favorite poem, by you.
    Hands down.
    Second to none.

    I’m a fan.

    ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

    • wow man I didn’t expect that.. wow..

well, to answer your question, while writing a previous version of this, there was a lot of rap influences in it.. basically one of my attempts to mix rap with my style of poetry.. but I only kept the idea from that one (& a few lines) ’cause I thought it wouldn’t fit so well.. & here it is…

I appreciate your words bro.. thanks so much!

  5. “once, the moonlight tricked you

& your dormant soul now bleeds

Strayed in the distance, stricken with pleasure

Carried by morning breeze” – among the many intricate lines, this one literally sat me down. I agree with Midnight – I see nothing but positive elevation with your writing prowess. Surreal, sublime, and sophisticated. I AM IN AWE OF YOU DAMNIT! 🙂

    • wow, thanks, man… can’t thank all of you enough for the support, but at least some fine pieces get written, so…. 😀

  6. I felt like this was speaking to me, especially that last stanza, man that last stanza!!! A masterpiece with every sense of the word. And I’ve just used the favorite/bookmark button for the first time, cause I definitely will be coming back to read this many many times.

    • that’s very kind of you.. i almost forgot about bookmarks, ’cause i like almost everything i read here xD thank you so much!
