Even the Mountains Know

Sometimes
just beneath the crux of sunrise
he sits,
and stares into
the brilliant display
of a painted sky,
and he becomes lost
in a plethora
of vivid colors,
and they remind him
of her beauty.

Almost like a colorful mosaic
designed
and painted
by the hand of destiny
to be hung upon his heart,
forever
to be displayed.

Sometimes
On the other side of twilight,
he sits
near the shores
of her love,
and gazes into the darkness
of night
and he becomes transfixed
by the way the stars radiate,
as if instructed
by fate
to illuminate
her beauty,
and his tears
fall into nothingness
in response to the way
the moon
pulls the ocean’s tide
as if designed
by the hand of fate
to remind him
that much like the coming rain,
her beauty
can never be contained.

And he longs
to gently press his lips
against the genesis
of her breath,
like sunlight longs to press
against the horizon
at the origins of a new day.

And his heart and soul
long to drink
in the beautiful essence
of her tears,
like wilted roses
long to drink
in the summer rain.

As he gazes at the stars,
bathes in sunlight,
and drowns in rain,
his heart cries
amidst the silence that says…

“You shouldn’t care, you shouldn’t want
to want her, like even the mountains know
you want her now.”

  1. Jesus, man, do they always have to be so good?

you gotta post more often.. it reminds me of what I’ve been lately forgetting when writing poetry..

      • things like:

“On the other side of twilight,
        he sits
        near the shores
        of her love,
        and gazes into the darkness
        of night
        and he becomes transfixed
by the way the stars radiate”

sometimes I feel I’m not being creative enough, almost as if I wrote the poem for someone else, describing things I have no idea about.. maybe I’m wrong,.. maybe not xD

My heart 💔 But wow that was amazing. the metaphors you used were so beautiful and breathtaking. The longing that seeped from your words reached for a pain that I also have in me. N is right, you definitely need to write more often and bless our lives ☺️

    • Yeah, “my heart” is correct…LOL Thanks for reading bud… I’m glad you liked it.Still trying to get to the point where I can start writing more freely again.
