Sons of the Mighty is all about the Philippines’ war against the Maoist local communist rebellion for three decades now and is still going on. A rich and prominent family ‘the Bocablancas’ known to be a rabid opponent against the New People’s Army (NPA) the armed group of the Communist Party of the Philippines. Although the Bocablancas are landlords and oligarchs, they didn’t want to be counted as feudal lords. In fact the Bocablancas are altruistic family. The Sons of the Mighty were ready to fight for the rights of the poor sugar workers of their plantation in San Marino and defended them against the communist menace and the oppressive society. The kidnapping of Eric’s girlfriend and the murder of his uncle marked the beginning of the end of the communist rebellion in the region.
