as we see your country punish those who
have trespassed against you
and all we can do is
lament and honour our dead.
Lead us not into the Middle East
but deliver us from political posturing…
For ours is a Kingdom
– and a first strike target –
and the power of Old Glory
and the fellowship of your pioneering spirit
will not stop the launch codes
or silence the gun
or disarm the bomb…
