in the wing
you stand ready
the crowd is seated waiting
but the curtain never rises
you have prepared well
rehearsed and met the tests
all in good time
but the call never comes
deceived into believing
your flower has budded
ready to bloom
but the sun never shines
a few fill the role
and hear the applause
but for you the curtain never rises
the play has been written
all the players selected
a few flowers for their fragrance
