Exotic experience

She walks along the silky sand,
Her eyes and ears expecting,
So soft and smooth on her skin,
She smiles. It tickles her arches.
Unable to smile whole-heartedly,
Her heart beats rapidly.
The warm winds raise white
All around her, enveloping her.
Sand touches her skin,
She smiles. It tickles her waist.
Eyes still open for any sign
Of danger. Heart beats rapidly.
She likes it in this desert,
Warm, comforting and almost safe.
She finds an exotic garden and
picks some fruit. A leaf falls.
She smiles. It tickles her cheek.
She timidly canvasses the small
Soft, round and bright colored orb.
Calmed by her milieu, she thrusts
Her teeth into it. She cringes.
It’s sour. But beneath the rough,
Bright skin, there is a softer heart.
Carefully peeled, she savors her orange
Piece by piece. She smiles.
Everything will be okay.
