As a little girl, a grille installed,
In her own house safety walled.
The iron beams looked strong,
To keep away the miscreant attempting anything wrong.
Come summer, a long vacation and a lonely girl,
Feeble and alien footsteps brought forth a fear whirl.
Parents away on winning bread,
The little one at home confined in the grilled balcony to tread.
The myriad voices of the television,
To give a human presence to relieve tension.
No sibling but a domestic help during noon,
Her eyes longing to see Mom and Dad come home soon.
