It made a change

It made a change

I asked the lady if she could
and she replied definitely.
I asked the lady if she would.
She shook her head negatively.

But this did not discourage me.
I asked her might she change her mind.
She smiled and then said possibly
Some times if I am feeling kind.

I told her I was in the mood
the lady merely smiled again.
I’m sure the lady understood
the very thoughts I entertain.

Sir the law is very clear.
It is long past closing time
if I should serve you with a beer
I would be committing a crime.

But if you care to come upstairs
then we can share a cup of tea
The one who wins is he who dares.
I answered affirmatively.

What happened next I will not say
Because you do not need to know.
Next morning I went on my way
I could not stay I had to go.

I usually stay in an hotel
not in some licensed B&B
To tell the truth I slept as well
a great deal less expensively

I tell you this in confidence.
The lady had persuaded me
to try a new experience
Which I had enjoyed thoroughly.

Your winking makes it obvious.
What kind of thoughts go through your head.
You’re pruriently curious
You think the lady shared my bed.

You can’t believe I’m innocent
You’re well aware what you’d have done.
Though I know and I’m confident
that I have nothing to atone.

I spent the night in bed alone
and breakfasted before I left.
Surprised how quickly night had flown.
and said farewell with due respect.

If I should pass this way once more
and it is highly probable
I will not pass the lady’s door
she made me very comfortable.
