Stars in the Tree
I’ll always remember the chestnut tree bare
With her cold moonlit arms and the stars in her hair,
When the wind chased the clouds o`er the blue velvet sky
And the young owls awoke with their wild eerie cry,
The roads were bright silver in unearthly light,
While houses were palaces, sprung in the night,
Star-gazing people,and moonstruck like me
Went wandering up to the hilltops to see
The skies hang above us,with jewels inset
Like small silver fish in a magic blue net.
But the daintiest thing that I ever could see
Were the stars in the hair of the bare chestnut tree.
