MC 11—— To One who will forget.

To One who will forget

Dear one,
When Spring is done, and Autumn comes again.
May you remember April’s smile, and daffodils?
Larch woods at their awakening, and the scent
Of pines upon the slope at sunset`s hour.
And may you tread again in mind, the roads,
The winding lonely roads o`er rounded hills
That crept at night to valleys where the Herons wait
In reed enshadowed rivers, breaking not the silences,
`Till new dawn.
Sometimes it seems you are with me still.
Walking those quiet roads, and fields and woods,
Hearing the pigeons calling in the copse
As once we did,in far off springs we knew.
But you forgot the love I had for you,
Forgot the scent of primroses and ferns,
Forgot the honeysuckles pale allure,
And left me lonely now that winters come.
