The Voice
I have walked in the valley of shadow
With no sound to break it`s silence,
And it seemed that the cock-crow of dawning
Never reached into depths dark as these.
I have faced gales of public opinion
And the lightning struck fear to my heart,
And the tongues with the venom of serpents
Have touched my own flesh with their hate.
But I heard a small voice close beside me
Soft as the sighing night wind.
“Be not afraid,you poor mortal,
For lo , I am with you always,
Even to the end of the world”
And though still the peace came not quickly
I had strength then,to finish the fight.
