Outside the sky is darkening,
A mixture of rain and snow is falling –
I shiver at the window,
Hugging myself for warmth;
My thoughts reach out
Wondering where you are,
What you’re thinking;
Such a far place,
That place where you go –
And I am unable to reach you;
Words no longer bridge the gap –
Their fragile tether
Now frayed and broken,
Swaying dangerously
Between our worlds,
Spilling thoughts and sentiments
Into the emptiness –
Tearing pieces from my heart
As they fall silently
Like the rain and snow
Outside my window,
