New Days Story

The sun rose in all its glory,
A new day born within this story.
Another day since you have past,
How long must this emptiness last?
I still see clearly your smiling face,
It haunts me now in this place.
This house just walls and window panes,
Nothing like our home remains.
Why did you leave, what made you go?
Answers to these I’ll never know.
But again I rise from my bed,
The throbbing slows within my head.
But to dawns credit I cannot falter,
Nor life’s past errors alter.
I should have seen you were about to leave,
This living regret, shall never reprieve.
I should have seen through your lies,
And heard your longing painful cries.
But I trusted what you said to me,
And tried my best to let you be.
Now you’re gone without a trace,
Leaving me alone here in this place.
I must forgive you and not forget,
I must now try to overcome regret.
Because you left me without a word,
And for a time my reasoning blurred.
But in each new day there is a story,
As the sun rises in all its glory.
