Plummet Into Life

As I stand on the cliff of understanding
Reflecting on whether to take the leap
My mind so full not withstanding
I chose not to run but to creep
But now as sunlight binds me
I teeter on the edge of life’s cliff
My life to this point not free
Somehow chained rigid and stiff
I break loose of the chains that shackle
I vow to let go and be free
Any challenges life throws I’ll tackle
I have got to go find me
I rid myself of shirt of stereotype
I rid myself of pants of pride
I take off my underwear of political hype
Now there’s nowhere for me to hide
Naked I leap off the edge
Plummeting into life as me
No turning back on my pledge
I’m open for all the world to see
