Since man first set upon a page
His thoughts of passion, joy and rage
One theme has always stood above
All other matters – that of love
In music, literature and verse
The writer little needs coerce
The Muse to proffer golden lines
Related to the heart’s designs
That heart may be by love disturbed
Unsure, uncertain or perturbed
Or else inflamed with fervency
Enchained, restrained or flying free
Whate’er the given moment’s mood
Creative work is thus imbued
Howe’er the poet’s pen may fall
His words will reader’s minds enthrall
