Society is like a Greek salad;
Several very disparate entities
All living together in some sort of
Loose conglomeration,
Each stolidly retaining his own identity
While unconsciously contributing by his very essence
To the whole.
Kalamata olives
Iceberg lettuce
(I prefer rotini instead)
Some green pepper. . .
A very important minority
Has to be the feta cheese.
(It is a minority – true!
But its voice is loudly heard!)
Tomatoes, cucumber, onion (thinly sliced)
We all are held together
With Extra Virgin Olive Oil glue
And kept relatively happy
With measured applications of
Garlic, oregano, basil, mustard,
maybe pepper and to keep us quiet
and in line liberal splashings
of vinegar and lemon juice.
Such is society!
