The Habitual Believer

As your devotion you but feign
From sermonizing please refrain
You bore with your morality
If your dimmed eyes could only see
You vent your spleen for things unknown
Corrupt with lies with which you’ve grown
And fear a deity decreed
You cower ‘fore every sensed misdeed
Look to your heart with tutored eyes
To verify what you surmise
My acceptation will be yours
When faith your morals underscores
And then, my eyes will cease to see
A lily-livered devotee
But even then, I’ll shun your shrine
Your faith is yours, and mine is mine
