The Kiss of Death

Lo did I journey down to the ebon stream…
A sip from Death’s river did cause me to dream…
A vision of her in my mind did appear…
And with nary a word she did beckon me near…

Perfection I saw from her eyes to her lips…
Her skin soft as silk as my fingers slid down to her hips…
A kiss from this angel was all I did ask…
And without even a word she was up to my task…

Her lips like the grave as she touched them to mine…
A panic spread through my body for this lady so fine…
The terror it gripped me as she swirled round her tongue…
Darkness descended as my body went numb…

My mind thought to heaven, but my body it did not take…
My hand left reaching like Winter trailing in Summer’s fading wake…
She lay me down sweetly and held me close as I died…
Too late did I realize twas not Love, but Death at my side…
