When Blossom Drapes The Orchard Boughs

When blossom drapes the orchard boughs
In pink and cherry white,
With colours that the spring endows
There is no greater sight,
When daffodils do grace the land
And shine like burning gold,
The work of God’s almighty hand
His wonders to behold.

When bluebells in the woodland grow
No better place to be,
To see that ocean sweep and flow
In all its majesty,
And when the hawthorn turns to white
And borders every field,
It fills my heart with such delight
To see it thus revealed.

When daisies in the meadow rise
To open in the sun,
And swallows swarm the April skies
I know that spring’s begun,
For then the birds shall sweetly sing
From every branch and tree,
Each joyful note that they will bring
Shall mean so much to me.
