i fell asleep to sun
and woke to darkness
fully clothed, alone
a glow upon the floor
of blinds mingling
with streetlights
in parallel lines
and infinite silence
except for pattering
light rain on the
bathroom skylight
it’s dinnertime
but i’m already full
comfortably sandwiched
between
warmest fleece and down
and pillows all around
i’ve fooled the dog
into thinking it’s night
as she dreams by the bed
with twitching feet
i should be fooled too, yes
for i much rather enjoy
waking to the sun
