By ocean’s edge among the reeds
Dwells a mystical being
Hidden well from curious eyes
Her magic forbids seeing
A shadow fleeing
Although her form will not appear
While sunlight floods the day
At night she moves among the rocks
With sea creatures she’ll play
Amid sea spray
Her sprightly spirit sprints through dreams
A phantom of velvet night
Shining droplets of silver dew
Flow from her in flight
A trail of light
Transparent wings of onion skin
Fluttering in summer’s sky
Glowing low in shades of blue
Elusive, she floats by
As seagulls cry
She rests along the rocky shore
Moonlight on trembling wings
Stardust issues from her breath
As hauntingly she sings
Of spectral things
The tang of salty ocean foam
Pervades the sultry air
Dawn will soon reclaim the sky –
To stop and linger there
She doesn’t dare
A sudden fleeting blur of blue
She leaves her rocky place
Returning to her hidden glade
Aloft with easy grace
Leaving no trace
